Mims Davies MP was appointed as the Shadow Secretary of State for Wales in November 2024 becoming part of Kemi Badenoch’s first Shadow Cabinet.
Mims has a strong affinity to Wales – after completing her degree at Swansea University the city continued to be Mims’ home for almost a decade. Its character and vibrancy compelled her to stay.
Her media career also began in Wales, starting with volunteering for Morriston Hospital Radio before working at The Wave in the 1990s and into the 2000s.
Mims also married a Welsh man and later had two children who are proud of their Welsh heritage.
For over thirty years Wales has been a huge part of her life and she credits her time here for building up her work confidence and instilling in ambition to succeed in life.
As Parliamentary Under-Secretary in the Wales Office in 2018, Mims spearheaded the ambitious £1.1 billion North Wales Growth Deal. Working with Alun Cairns on the abolishment of the Severn Bridge tolls which has boosted the Welsh economy.
Being Shadow Secretary of State is one of the highest honours in her life, and her Mims’s priority now is to ensure she champions Wales in Westminster and will work with her Conservative colleagues in the Senedd to fix Wales’ broken public services after 25 years of Labour’s mismanagement.
