Everyone deserves a Welsh NHS which is reliable and resourced so that it is there when they need it, free at the point of use.
After 26 years of Labour control, propped up by Plaid Cymru, the Welsh NHS is broken, with 24,000 people waiting more than two years for treatment, ambulances queuing outside hospitals for hours, health boards yo-yoing in and out of special measures, all following Labour’s mismanagement of our NHS.
We have a plan to save the Welsh NHS after Labour’s abysmal record, we would:
- Carry out a comprehensive review of the structure and governance of the Welsh NHS.
- Introduce a Welsh cancer action plan.
- Invest in early intervention and prevention centres.
- Ensure the full Barnett consequential arising from NHS spending by the UK Government is made available for the health service in Wales; and
- Create a dedicated centres of excellence for orthopaedic, stroke and other conditions.
- Improve patient choice by giving patients freedom to choose where they get treated.
- Bring forward a substantial workforce recruitment and retention plan.
- Establish more surgical hubs and diagnostic centres.
