Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport, Tom Giffard MS, said:
“Wales Tourism Week is a great way to celebrate everything our country has to offer, with outstanding historical attractions and areas of natural beauty for visitors to enjoy.
“Unfortunately though, Labour Ministers seem determined to keep people away with a tourism tax which will kill jobs, threatening people’s livelihoods at a time when the sector desperately needs support after the pandemic.
“The tourism tax combined with punishing new proposals to increase council tax by 300% on self-catering properties that don’t meet a new, far higher holiday let threshold will decimate tourism businesses in Wales.”
