The Wales Tourism Alliance has warned a tourism tax would “turn people away from Wales” and that businesses were “not looking forward to the idea”.
Reacting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport, Tom Giffard MS, said:
“Welsh Conservatives have been clear that we don’t support a tourism tax because we know that it will cost jobs and hurt businesses.
“At the very time where the sector needs the Government to support tourism businesses, they are clobbering them with an additional tax instead.
“The stark intervention from the WTA should be a clear warning to the Welsh Government of the consequences of pushing ahead with this tax, and they should respond by ditching this additional tax.”
