Sam Rowlands MS is proud to announce that the Outdoor Education Bill’s explanatory memorandum has been published following extensive consultation with academic institutions and the outdoor education sector.
Commenting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Local Government Minister, Sam Rowlands MS said:
“My aspiration is for all children in Wales to be given access to an Outdoor Education residential visit at least once in their school career, regardless of their local authority or their family income. Wales should be at the forefront of outdoor education delivery, this Bill will look to achieve this.
“I have had the pleasure of working closely with academic institutions and the outdoor education sector in preparing and developing the proposed policy objectives of this Bill and assessing the potential costs.
“Outdoor education is immensely beneficial with a range of lasting benefits for students’ physical and mental health as well as improving their understanding of the natural world around them. Sadly, too many students don’t get the opportunity to participate in these opportunities.”
